Atarraya is an interdisciplinary group of the Universidad de los Andes, which seeks to contribute to the strengthening of STEM education in schools through creative areas.
Through Atarraya’s three lines of action they seek to make visible, disseminating and connecting STEM educational experiences in order to multiply the impact on basic and secondary education and inspire many students and teachers nationwide.
The second contributes to teacher and student training; From teacher training we train public school teachers in methodologies for teaching STEM areas; From student education, we inspire more students from high-need communities to find opportunities for professional and business development in STEM areas. Finally, the Atarraya team co-create, together with teachers, pedagogical and didactic material that contributes to innovation and development of 21st century skills in elementary and middle school students.
The Atarraya team also wants to reduce the gender gaps and the lack of opportunities that exist in STEM education, particularly in Colombia. They know that these disciplines are necessary in the training of young people to develop competitive skills in a clearly technological and digitized society. The team believes that their work is crucial in order to continue building up the country from the power of education.
